We
believe that preventive
dental care is a foundation
of good oral health.
We are committed to
preventive dental treatment
that allows our patients
to enjoy healthy smiles.
We stress on scheduling
regular dental visits
because we strongly
believe that prevention
is better than cure. |

DENTAL
HYGIENE VISIT
|
In addition
to our meticulous cleaning
and polishing and examination,
x-rays of your teeth, we also
take time to help our patients
with proper oral hygiene instructions
for plaque control at home.
Dr.Jain and the hygienists
may make suggestions for preventive
measures such as night guard
to prevent bruxism (Clenching
of teeth) or occlusal adjustment
(bite adjustment) or may recommend
deep cleaning (scaling and
root planning) after evaluation.
|
SCALING
AND ROOT PLANING
|
If we feel
and evaluate that you are
suffering from gingivitis
or more severe form of gum
disease (Periodontitis), we
may recommend scaling and
root planning. This is a nonsurgical
procedure in which plaque
and tartar below the gum line
are removed. The root surfaces
are smoothed using special
instruments. This will allow
your gums to heal (periodontal
pocket elimination). Effective
plaque control at home and
regular hygiene visits are
the key factors in maintaining
your periodontal health.
|
ORAL CANCER
SCREENINGS
|
During
a dental examination, the
doctor will check your neck
and oral tissues for red or
white patches, lumps or recurring
ulcers or sores. Screening
for early changes in oral
tissues may help detect oral
cancer at a stage when it
is treated with more success.

Cosmetic
Dentistry generally
focuses on improving
the teeth, mouth and
as our mission states
enhances the natural
beauty and outlook of
your smile. It is quite
different from traditional
dentistry. It provides
a smile makeover that
could include various
procedures such as dental
veneers, teeth whitening,
bonding and implant
services. |
|
|
|
VENEERS |
Porcelain
veneers are thin castings
of ceramic porcelain
that are bonded to the
front of your tooth/
teeth to create a new
smile. When designing
and placing porcelain
veneers, we pay attention
to your adjacent teeth
and face and we make
sure that it complements
to your overall smile
and enhances the natural
beauty of your smile.
This treatment is a
good option for patients
who are not cosmetically
happy with their smile,
for e.g. teeth too small,
uneven teeth, discolored
teeth or spaces between
teeth.
If cared properly, veneers
may last you a long
time. The veneers are
constructed of the most
durable porcelain material
available and it becomes
even stronger once bonded
onto the tooth. This
is a two visit procedure
and requires little
grinding of your tooth
structure (0.5-1mm)
in enamel in most cases. |

|
BONDING/WHITE
FILLINGS |
A
bonding is a composite
resin material that is
used as a filling material
or as veneering material.
This is an excellent cosmetic
option for those patients
who do not want the look
of silver fillings in
their mouths and those
who do not want to spend
the money on porcelain
veneers. Bonding / white
fillings can be used on
teeth that are decayed,
cracked or stained. The
procedure for white filling
is usually completed in
one visit leaving you
with a natural looking
restoration. These types
of fillings are not as
strong and they should
be checked periodically
by dentist for wear and
may last 4-7 years. When this happens, the restoration
will need to be replaced. |

WHITENING
/ BLEACHING |
Over
time, our teeth tend to
become discolored or stained.
Whether this is from foods,
certain drinks or smoking.
We do offer a solution
to a brighter and beautiful
smile through bleaching.
There are two ways you
can do bleaching. In office
bleaching and home bleaching.
The in-office bleaching
is more effective. |

ZOOM
! |
Our
office utilizes Zoom!
Chairside whitening system
as seen on TV show extreme
makeover. The procedure
lasts little over an hour.
It requires isolation
of teeth and protection
of gum and oral tissues.
The whitening gel is applied
and special light is used
to activate the gel. The
results are usually 4-8
shades lighter. You can
get more information by
clicking on the link here. |

|
HOME
BLEACHING |
This
is another method of bleaching
or whitening your teeth.
It is used by the patient
at home. You wear custom
made trays with bleaching
gel and wear it for a
few hours at home for
about 4-6 days. You will
see significant improvement
in color of your teeth.
This method is not as
effective as in-office
or chairside bleaching
in a dentist office, but
it is less expensive compared
to in-office bleaching.
Bleaching works only on
natural teeth, everyone
gives different result
and may make your teeth
sensitive. Please call
us for more information
and we will recommend
you the best bleaching
option for you. |

Dental
implants are becoming
more popular modality
for replacing missing
teeth. Dental implants
have advantages over conventional
denture or bridges. Dental
Implants maintain bone,
increased stability and
retention, improved phonetics,
reduced size of removable
prosthetics and improved
psychological comfort.
The procedure involves
two phases – surgical
placement of implants
and prosthetic phase.
The surgical phase involves
placement of a titanium
screw into the jawbone.
The implant is left untreated
for 3-6 months. During
this time bone grows around
the implant called osteointegration.
During this time, the
patient wears a temporary
prosthesis. The second
phase is construction
of a prosthesis (crown/denture)
over the implant. The
next step is to place
an abutment which will
support the crown and
becomes part of the implant
system. This implant-crown
unit becomes fully functional.
Dr.Jain has successfully
completed the continuing
education course at New
York University for implantology-surgical
and prosthetic treatment
(September 2001-June 2003) |

Dental
crowns, also known as
“caps”, preserve
the function of damaged
teeth. Crowns are used
to protect a cracked tooth,
repair a tooth with extensive
decay, or replace a pre-existing
crown. There are different
types of crown- all porcelain
crown, porcelain fused
to metal crown or gold
crown. The procedure involves
2-3 visits and the crown
is sent to a dental laboratory,
during the time your crown
is constructed at the
lab, patient wears a temporary
crown. Most crowns are
completed in two visits.
Sometimes may take three
visits. |

A bridge
is one of the options
to replace missing
tooth/teeth. A bridge
by definition is
a link or a bridge
over two natural
teeth. There are
three main types
of bridges.
-
Traditional
bridges which is the most
common type of
bridge. This type
of bridge is usually
made up of porcelain
fused to metal.
-
Cantilever Bridges are supported
by teeth only
on one side.
-
Maryland Bridges where
the pontic or
artificial tooth
is bonded onto
the adjacent teeth.

Dentures
are used for replacing
the missing teeth.
The full dentures
are usually made
for patients missing
all the teeth in
the arch. Now with
the invention of
dental implants,
patients have an
option for implant
supported overdenture.
This type of overdenture
is constructed over
dental implants
and it gives better
retention and stability
over conventional
full denture.

Removable
partial dentures
usually consist
of replacement teeth
attached to pink
or gum-colored plastic
bases, which are
connected by metal
framework. Removable
partial dentures
attach to your natural
teeth with metal
clasps or devices
called precision
attachments. Precision
attachments are
generally more esthetic
than metal clasps
and they are nearly
invisible. Our Partial
service ensures
a comfort fit within
your teeth.

A root
canal is an attempt
to save the damaged
tooth. A root canal
is often necessary
to save an infected
tooth or sometimes
tooth with a very
deep filling. If
left untreated,
may lead to an abscess.
A root canal is
a dental procedure
that is used to
remove diseased
pulp tissue (nerve)
from the interior
of a tooth. The
procedure is completed
in one or two visits.
The first step is
to anaesthetize
the area, then the
pulp chamber and
canals are cleaned
and shaped to receive
an inert filling
called gutta percha.
The tooth is now
ready for final
restoration which
is usually a post
and a crown.
